Today I have been married to my best friend and first love for 35 and a half years. I think about how it feels like a gnat’s breath of time. I also look at the amazing family we have in our children, grandchildren, their extended families and I am thankful.
Of course we have had some hard patches as all couples do, but those are not the times that stand out in my mind. It is the joy of our children and grandchildren being born, family gatherings, Christmases, Thanksgivings, Birthdays and marriages.

We also had the amazing blessings of grandparents, uncles, aunts cousins and nieces and nephews nearby.

Last but not least, we have lived in a community and a church body that held us all together in a truly catechetic neighbourhood where our children were surrounded with solid homes and families everywhere they went.

We have a scripture hanging in our kitchen that pretty much sums up for me what a strong home rests upon. I leave that with you today.

“By wisdom a house is built, And by understand it is established;

And by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and

pleasant riches.”

To this I say, Amen.
